Period Cooking Workshop – Kimchi

When: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2022 AT 1 PM – 4 PM

Where: 383 Littleworth Lane, Sea Cliff, NY 11579

Gather around the table and learn of the 4,000 year old national dish of Korea. We will be making both white kimchi and the more familiar spicy red kimchi. The knowledge gleaned from this transfers to other fermented vegetable dishes from around the world.

If you want to bring some home, please bring jars or other containers to carry it. Due to the cost of materials, it will be $1.50 per pint/pound of kimchi.

  • Call for Letters of Intent for new officers. If one is opposed, we will have a meet the candidates and the vote will be at December commons. Deputies needed for all positions.

Francisco: Change to provide timing window regarding profitability. Refund requests 7 days or more before event will be granted regardless of event profitability.

Mathghamhain supports

Uji to make adjustment and have new version for vote ASAP

– Provincial Storage Unit: 2 basically equal sites in different locations: Mt. Vernon (accessible by 6 train) and Floral Park

Populace needs to vote on storage, and then financial committee. Kitchen gear, green-and-white, and gold key will be stored. Cost is about $1,200/yr. Needs easy accessibility to people w/vehicles and close to event sites, plus accessibility from city is also good. Seems like Mt. Vernon is more accessible to all, but both are basically equivalent.

Populace vote: 10 in favor of Mt. Vernon, 0 in favor of Floral Park

On the first Sunday of September, many volunteers from across the East came together to help put on the Sunday dayboard at the Feast of John Barleycorn. These people worked tirelessly, in less than optimal conditions, and without their service, the dayboard would not have come out on time and with the quality offered.

Join us for an outing at Wilkens Fruit & Fir Farm.

While pick you own apples is at the end of the season, pumpkin picking is in season.

Other activities include:

  • Corn Maze
  • Apple Farm Market
  • Onsite bakery with Apple Cider Doughnuts and other goodies
  • Country Market
  • Winery

And Good Fellowship and Company is always in season. Come hang out with fellow medievalists and celebrate the season.
