Meet the Viceregal Candidates

Greetings to Our beloved Populace,

With the new year here, we are heading full swing into the Viceregal succession polling. We are excited and proud to see three slates of candidates who have stepped forward with desire to be the next Viceregents of .

We will hold 2 virtual meet the candidates nights:
Sunday 1/23 @ 6pm to 8pm
Thursday 1/27 @ 7pm to 9pm

These will be held via Google Meet at https://meet.google.com/ezo-fdtg-ivh

We are going to do our best to get these recorded and shared with the populace so anyone who may not be able to attend can view them later. We will post details to virtual meetings shortly.

At the virtual meet the candidates nights the populace will have an opportunity to ask the candidates questions directly or they can submit questions to Suuder and myself ahead of time at viceregents@ostgardr.eastkingdom.org We will keep all questions submitted ahead of time anonymous.

Everyone is welcome to attend and quiz the candidates on all things from their views on various SCA topics to what their favorite ice cream flavor is.

Look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

East Kingdom Remains Remote Only

Good evening East Kingdom Populace,

Their Majesties and Their Highnesses, with the Office of the Seneschal, thank the Kingdom for your support regarding the decision to close down all in-person activities until January 17th.

Therefore, we have decided to extend the shut-down of all in-person activities in the East Kingdom for two additional weeks, through February 1st. We will meet on January 31st and will have an update on February 1st. We are in touch with the staff for events in the first two weeks of February at this time.

As always, we urge East’s Tyger populace to take good care of yourselves: practice social distancing, wear good masks correctly at all times in public, and stay home when feeling ill or if someone you’ve recently been in close contact with becomes ill. We look forward to seeing folks in person soon.

Welcome to the new year! Brokenbridge commons will be at 11am on the 23rd!

The first hour will be commons. The second hour (starting around 12pm) will be a class taught by Arnora Ketilsdottir:

Japanese Stab Binding

A simple yet elegant form of bookbinding, Japanese stab binding is a great introduction in to book binding. Come and learn the art of trying not to stab yourself in the finger.

Minimum tools needed to following along: paper, a needle, and string/embroidery floss/ribbon/thread. Optional: Scissors, ruler, and an awl.

Please join our regularly scheduled 3rd Wednesday of the month social and business meeting! Meet the new seneschal, as well as new and returning officers.

Also on the agenda, upcoming events, including the successful bid for coronation! There will be plenty of opportunities for volunteering.

The call begins at 7pm. The business meeting will be called to order at 7:30pm. Socializing will continue after the meeting.

In Person SCA Activities Suspended in the East Kingdom

“Good evening, East Kingdom Populace,

With the care of the Kingdom ever in mind, Their Majesties, Their Highnesses, the Seneschal-Elect, and the Kingdom Seneschal have agreed that we must shut down all in-person events, meetings, practices, and other activities in the East for two weeks, until January 17th.

The Omicron variant of COVID is at its peak for the next 2 weeks, is highly transmissible, and highly virulent. This is a risk we cannot ask folks on staff to take on behalf of the Kingdom.

Over the weekend of January 15th and 16th, we will revisit the scientific data to see whether extending or lifting this shut-down is warranted. Their Majesties and Their Highnesses will also review options for ethereal Court or postponed in-person events. We ask the populace for patience as the Royal Staff assess how to best address this delay in cherished plans.

In the meantime, we urge East’s Tyger populace to take good care of yourselves: practice social distancing, wear masks correctly at all times in public, and stay home when feeling ill, so that when we can gather, we can do so with joyful spirits.
