Pennsic 50 Østgarðr Encampment

Greetings!

Hard to believe, but Pennic 50 is less than 100 days away!

We are expecting a larger-than-usual Ostgardr camp, and we already have quite a number of registered campers and requests to join our camp.

Some quick notes regarding Ostgardr Pennsic camping.

  • Brandrr is our land agent. Brandrr will secure prime real estate so we have enough campable space for all of us. Thank you, Brandrr, for taking on this role.
  • Mathghamhain Ua Ruadhain is our camp master. He will work on the camp layout, organize camp needs and be responsible for collecting camp fees. We appreciate Mathghamhain agreeing to take on this responsibility.
  • We are grateful Hrefna Aronsson volunteered to organize our Potluck dinner Thursday night of War Week. I hear a pig roast is on the menu!
  • If you plan on camping with Ostgardr and you are not from Ostgardr, please email your request to Angelica and me prior to registering: viceregents@ostgardr.eastkingdom.org
  • Please sign up to our Ostgardr Pennsic 50 Camp on Facebook group for camp information: https://www.facebook.com/groups/414618855387861 This FB group will have up-to-date information and is a good place to ask questions.
  • Please keep in mind online Pennsic registration ends July 6th for unpaid registrations and June 11th for paid registrations. Mail-in registration ends May 31, 2023.
  • If you do not register to camp with us prior to the paid registration deadline, we will do our best to accommodate your request however, keep in mind you might be sleeping on a slope.
  • Mark your calendars: On May 24th at 7PM, we scheduled an online Pennsic camp meeting. The meeting is on the Ostgardr calendar and included here. Please make every attempt to attend. We will try to have minutes of the meeting for those who could not attend.

We are very excited to have you camp with Ostgardr and share in the Pennsic 50-Year Anniversary Celebration!

A&S Meeting and Public Demo in New Rochelle

The SCA will have an A&S meeting on Saturday April 8th, 2023, from 11
AM to 3 PM, in the meeting room of the New Rochelle Public Library.

The central project will be painting heraldic banners of the Northpass
populace badge.  Leather working, Calligraphy and Illustration, and
Medieval Games will lend additional interest to the gathering.  All
are invited.   As this meeting is in a public place, we may attract
members of the general public.  We will have brochures and business
cards on hand for any who demonstrate interest in our activities.

Please be aware that the library does not permit food or drink in the
meeting room.

The meeting room is the backstage area of library’s auditorium,
accessed by a door off the main lobby.

The library is located at 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle, NY 10801, in
southeastern Westchester County.

There is metered public parking (three hour maximum), both on street
and in a lot nearby (pay by licence plate at a cash/credit card kiosk,
or through the smartphone app ParkMobile).
The library is also within easy walking distance from the New Rochelle
Metro North train station;  from the train platform ascend either the
stairs or in the elevator to the upper level of the station, and
proceed directly to the only street exit, crossing the street straight
ahead, then walking a full block to Library Green, and a bit further
to the actual library.    There are short flights of stairs to the
library, and between the Library Green entrance and the meeting room.

Come to the Pennsic 101 Class

Pennsic pre-reg has opened, and people are starting to think about Pennsic, so…

Pennsic 101 class ONLINE – Wednesday 3/29/23 7pm Eastern ***Class will not be recorded***

You want to go to Pennsic! Everyone you talk to makes it sound like so much fun… but you’ve never done anything like this, so… now what do you do?

Come to Pennsic 101 on Wednesday March 29 2023 at 7pm to find out! (Those with Pennsic experience are very welcome – I don’t know everything, plus I’ve had 40+ year veterans learn something new in this class!)

The class will be held ONLINE. The class will be held via Google Meet. Class link will be posted the day before. Check here for the link.

Pennsic is a wonderful SCA event and attending this class will help you to both prepare and have the best time possible… We will discuss how to prepare for Pennsic, what you will need to do and bring. We will answer questions you may have on how to manage to get your things to Pennsic and what you can expect when you finally get there and get set up. If you have garb you’ve already made and are not sure it’s Pennsic-ready, bring it. We can help you decide.
