As we huddle through the dark of winter; and in the time between winter solstice and the first marks of spring, we huddle around the fire. We tell stories, sing songs, eat food, teach lessons, and last through the long nights together.
Join us for Deck the Halls of Valhalla! Hosted by the Canton of Brokenbridge, it is our yearly event celebrating togetherness in Nordic style. In previous years while we have celebrated in person, this year we are celebrating at our ethereal hall.
In December, the SCA’s Board of Directors extended the suspension of in-person events through May 31, 2021. As conditions continue to develop, small in-person gatherings may be permitted in specific areas; contact your branch seneschal or relevant kingdom officer for additional details.
Hello, Østgarðr! We are coming up on a time of transition within the province, when officer terms end and new terms begin.
We enter the new year welcoming three new people to the provincial officers council: Brokenbridge seneschal Ragnarr bláskegg, Minister of Arts & Sciences Randve L’il Hammar, and Chancellor Minor Kunigunde Wedemann.
*Huge thank yous* to outgoing officers Brandr Aronsson, Þorfinn Hróðgeirsson and Arnora Ketilsdottir for their service to the province and to their cantons! VIVANT! VIVANT!! VIVANT!!!
Our first commons with the new officers will be January 20th, following our new schedule of the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
This coming Friday, December 18, 2020 at 8 PM, our regularly-scheduled Provincial Commons gathering will be transformed into an Etherial Court of their Excellencies Østgarðr. See the announcement below for additional details. The next official business meeting will be in January.
Please join us for The Winter Court of Their Excellencies Suuder and Lada, the Il Khan and Il Khatun of the Il Khanate of Østgarðr.
The court will be held via Zoom (link to be posted shortly). Everyone is welcome to attend court. We do ask that you wear garb or please keep your camera off. Court will be recorded and later added to our YouTube channel.
After Court please join us for a Provincial commons meeting and social via Google Meet. No garb is required for the social. You can join the social via your desktop web browser, Google Meet mobile apps, or the phone numbers listed here: https://meet.google.com/nhu-qsgk-zzi

Back in 2018, the Crown Province assembled a bunch of materials documenting its fifty years of history as part of the East Kingdom’s anniversary event.
These items were displayed at the event, and have been brought out a couple of times since then, but we neglected to make them available more widely, and are now attempting to correct that oversight.
The most comprehensive document of the Province’s history is “The Annals of The Crown Province of Østgarðr,” a document originally prepared by Richard the Poor of Ely, who for many years was Østgarðr’s official Historian.
As part of the preparations for the East Kingdom Fifty Year event, I revised and extended that document, adding bits of history found in the public record or contributed by the populace.
The results were printed up as a hardback book, the contents of which you can view below.
If you have interesting stories from Østgarðr’s past to share with us, please let us know!
