Intro to Maille-making Class – July 8th

Name: Intro to Maille-making

Date and time: Tuesday, July 8th, 6pm until dark.

Location: McCarren Park, P.O. Gilroy Field (the site of weekly armored combat practice)

Backup date and time: Friday, July 11th, 6pm until dark

Location: Marine Park

Description: An introductory hands-on workshop on the basic maille crafting techniques. Students will learn to weave a sheet of butted European 4-in-1 maille, resulting in a small trinket about the size of a bracelet. Tools and materials will be provided.
Duration: 2-3 hours, or until dark.

Price: Free, with $5 suggested donation per person to cover the cost of materials.

What to bring: Ground cover and/or seat, as tables may not be available. Drinking water. Two sets of smooth-jawed needle-nose pliers are recommended, but can be provided.

Disability accommodation: The skills taught require hand-eye coordination. Nevertheless, given some patience and perseverance, folks who find such tasks challenging can and have succeeded on simpler yet still satisfying projects.
