Officer Report Items For Discussion

  • cancel Ragamuffin’s Ball outright, or continue planning as we see how conditions change?  Discussion included various salient points:

Kunigunde:  I think we should wait until we hear from Kingdom what their stance is on in-person events this summer. I think a decision about Pennsic is being made in May, perhaps we can wait until then for a decision?

Anne: Pennsic isn’t making the go/no go decision until May last I checked. I think we should similarly plan to make a final decision closer to the time. If that’s not feasible I would rather cancel than plan to hold – but I don’t really know why it wouldn’t be feasible.

Oliver: Blue Mountain Lodge is not taking any group reservations for this year.

[discussion]

Jenna points out no children’s vaccines available.

Randve agrees — adults will not be at 75% by August.

Oliver suggests placing new bids in August for next year.

Francisco: get deposit back?  or roll it over?

Lada: roll it over so we can reserve more readily.

Oliver: keeps it friendlier all around.

Alienor asks about Barleycorn.  Some uncertainty — Oliver will check with Tom.

Francisco: make sure that Tom filled out the added cover sheet with group information.

[CONSENSUS] Given the loss of site, no vote needed.  Both Ragamuffin’s Ball and Goat’s Tavern are off for this year.  Oliver will propose them in August for 2022.

March 2021 Reports • Østgarðr Commons

Viceregents • Suuder Saran & Lada Monguligin

No report submitted.

Seneschal • Alienor Salton

At our October commons, we voted to revisit our decision to host Ragamuffin’s Ball Augusst 6-8 at Blue Mountain Lodge at this Commons.  Do we wish to continue planning at this time, with the understanding that we may need to cancel closer to the event?

Events we have chosen to plan (also with the understanding that they may be canceled as the time approaches) include Feast of John Barleycorn Sept. 10-12 (at Veterans Memorial Park) and Goat’s Tavern (Blue Mountain Lodge) Oct. 22-24.

Exchequer • Francisco de Braga

No news to report at this time.

Herald • Drasma Dragomira

Nothing new to report as herald.  Submissions are as usual ongoing and welcome, though back to the mail in with a check process since virtual Herald’s Point has ended.  If you still happen to be sitting on your name or armory that you want to register, feel free to reach out to me to get started.

Chatelaine • Laila al-Sanna’ al-Andalusiyya

No report submitted.

Chancellor Minor • Kunigunde Wedemann

With in-person events still not happening, there have been no youth activities for me to report on. I do wish to thank Her Excellency Lada for sending me a box of calligraphy material and puzzles for activities at future events.

Arts & Sciences • Randve L’il Hammar

No report submitted.

Armored Combat • Ervald LaCoudre

No report submitted.

Archery • Arnbiorg Helga Niálsdóttir

No report submitted.

Fencing • Alec MacLachlan

The virtual practices continue on Thursday nights from 8-9. I usually get 1-2 people.   I got a new person last month on one night.  Right now she’s just looking at getting into some kind of fencing (She’s a returning classical fencer).

Youth Combat • Mathghamhain Ua Ruadháin

No news on the local youth-combat front. Working on an inter-kingdom web site to share training videos to help get people ready for when things start moving ahead later this year.

Minister of Lists • Marion of York

No report submitted.

Webminister • Anne of Østgarðr

I expect to be moved out of province by August. Relatedly, please announce a call for webminister replacement applications – no hard deadline yet but I think I’ll be moving in June ish.

Chronicler • Zahra al-Andalusiyya

The E-Horse was sent out on March 1. Thank you to all who contributed!

Next issue is set to go out June 1. Send me contributions of art, articles, etc. until then.

Chamberlain • Ian of Clan Mitchell

No report submitted.

Historian • Sofya Gianetta di Trieste

No report submitted.

Whyt Whey • Vika Grigina z Prahy

We are actively searching for officers (https://whytwhey.eastkingdom.org/2021/03/16/whyt-whey-help-wanted/); our Herald is moving away, and we need step-up (rather than drop-dead) deputies for Seneschal and Exchequer, as your humble correspondent is term-limited next January, and our Exchequer will need a break at some point.

Quarterly canton commons on April 1.

Lions End • Nagashima Ichiro Ujimichi

Nothing to Report.

Brokenbridge • Ragnarr bláskegg

We are having Brokenbridge commons on the 28th at 11am.  We will be talking about a new Baconbridge online event led by Randve Litle Hammer.  We also need to review our policy letters this year. Randve and our Chatelaine Albrecht are looking into getting a Brokenbridge newsletter together.

Arnora Ketilsdottir has stepped down as webminister and we thank her for her service.  Catelin Straquhin has taken over for Arnora.  Catelin has given the Brokenbridge website a face lift, so please take a look!  Hanya Vladimirovna Polotskaya has taken over as MOAS from Catelin and welcome her to the position!

I’m also holding Seneschal Office Hours on Thursday, March 25th from about 8:30 to 10:30. This will be an informal gathering to hang out and talk about the SCA and life.  So everyone is welcome to come and hang out.  I’ll resending the invite on the Brokenbridge mailing list this week.
