January Arts & Crafts Night: In-person on Wednesday, January 25th.

January Arts & Crafts night will be an in-person event Wednesday, January 25th, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Astoria, Queens.

After many years of service, our beautiful ceremonial seahorse banners need replacing.

To start the new year right by beautifying the Province, I will host an in-person workshop to pattern new banners. If you would like to participate, please email me at 206055@members.eastkingdom.org to reserve a spot.

Period Cooking Workshop – Kimchi

When: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2022 AT 1 PM – 4 PM

Where: 383 Littleworth Lane, Sea Cliff, NY 11579

Gather around the table and learn of the 4,000 year old national dish of Korea. We will be making both white kimchi and the more familiar spicy red kimchi. The knowledge gleaned from this transfers to other fermented vegetable dishes from around the world.

If you want to bring some home, please bring jars or other containers to carry it. Due to the cost of materials, it will be $1.50 per pint/pound of kimchi.

Come to the November Scribal Workshop

Our next monthly Scribal Workshop is on!
As we progress through our workshops we will cover all aspects of pre-17th century calligraphy and illumination
The workshop will be at Blend Coffee and Cowork. It is a great local coffee shop with delicious brews, yummy treats and plenty of work space. We have access to the space in exchange to patronizing the coffee shop.

When: Sunday November 13, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Blend Coffee + Cowork  6808 4th Ave Brooklyn NY 11220

We will continue to work on our gothic textura quadrata calligraphy. Handouts and starter materials will be provided. Please bring a favorite quote or poem or song lyrics to use for practice.
Bring your scribal kits if you have them and feel free to bring any projects you may be working on.

Please rsvp by Friday 11/11 so we can give the coffee shop a headcount

Scribal Workshops Return to Østgarðr

We are excited to start up scribal workshops again!
This will be the first one in the monthly series of workshops. As we progress through our workshops we will cover all aspects of pre-17th century calligraphy and illumination.

Where: Blend: Coffee + CoWork, 6808 4th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11220

When: Sunday October 16, 2022, beginning at 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Public Transit: R train to Bay Ridge Ave (the shop is on the same block as train station exit)

The workshop will be at Blend Coffee and Cowork. It is a great local coffee shop with delicious brews, yummy treats and plenty of work space. We have access to the space in exchange to patronizing the coffee shop.

We will talk about different materials and tools that we use and set some group and individual goals for ourselves.

Masking Requirements. All attendees at indoor events are required to wear masks in compliance with the East Kingdom COVID policy.

COVID Event check-in process. All attendees who are eligible to be vaccinated still need to show either proof of full vaccination or a medically-supervised negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of the in-person gathering. Event staff will continue to check this documentation. Attendees over the age of 18 also still need to show a gov’t-issued photo ID or SCA blue card with the same name as the vaccination card/negative test results.

Host/event staff no longer need to collect contact tracing information.
As part of the check-in process for attending an in-person gathering, the ATTENDEE will sign a form attesting to the following: “By signing below, you are confirming that you have presented proper identification, along with either proof of being fully vaccinated or a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours prior to the start of the event. (If you present proof of a negative COVID test it must comply with the current SCA COVIDSafe rules)”.
