From the Chronicler
Picture of Countess AidanEarly in September, Countess Aidan ni Leir, OL, OP, OR, onetime Ostgardr resident, former Kingdom Seneschal and eternal Great Lady of the East, passed away suddenly in her home in the Canton of Steltonwald, Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands, Kingdom of Æthelmearc.  Those unfamiliar with the Great Lady may read more about her life and works here.

Countess Aidan was a woman of many talents, and a dedicated and patient administrator.
The E-Horse Editorial Staff spent many years making music with Aidan before her relocation to Æthelmearc.  We will miss her fierce intelligence, ready wit, and tireless work ethic.

Meetings

Ostgardr Commons

August 21, 2015

255 W. 105th St., New York, NY

Deputy Seneschal Suuder presided.

Chronicler: Pennsic was great.  New faces, give me your contact info & get subscribed.

Web: Still in the process of migrating Web site to eastkingdom.org server.  Explained need for officer e-mail accounts on eastkingdom.org (to shield personal e-mail from subpoenas).

Whyt Whey Seneschal: Signed contract for [Fort Tryon fair?]

Chatelaine:  Sofia reported via e-mail

Exhecquer: Still need final event report from Champions' event (April).
Stepping down after Q4 report.  Need replacement.  Job takes c. 10-15 min/week.
Ostgardr went through audit w/Regional; minor nits.  Need equipment inventory.  Need written Exchequer policy.

Northpass: had Canton mtg last night & elected Tom Seneschal (needs ratification at next mtg).
New rules for Canton officers: their reports go to Provincial (cc Tom) 2 weeks in advance, and don't go to Kingdom until Provincial has certified that they're OK.  No lateness.  So there.

Chamberlain: New, heavy, green & white pavilion lives in Ian's storage; need notice & help before sending it anywhere, and need raise/strike crew of 6-8 people who know how it works.  Setup c. 20 min.  Need for Cloisters; Barleycorn?  Make sure it's there and up BEFORE other tents.
Feast gear is already in Wilhelm's garage for Barleycorn.
Ian points out that we actually need TWO inventories: one of only expensive items (for Kingdom and IRS reporting), and one of anything we want to keep track of.

A&S: stuff happening.  Brokenbridge A&S minister (newly arrived from Midrealm) Erica ska Sasha.
8/30 11 AM: field trip to Cloisters to see the jewelry exhibit.

Archery: Sunday practices in Staten Island & Cedar Creek Park.  Northpass practice hasn't solidified.

Broken Bridge: Seneschal has drop-dead deputy (Ossum Cantrell?), but need a "real" deputy/successor.

Upcoming Events

Musicians' Day: Back to the weekend before Thanksgiving (20-22 Nov).  Still nailing down some jobs.

Barleycorn: aiming for 150-200 attendance.  Event will take place regardless of tornadoes, earthquakes, locusts, etc.  Friderich cooking.  Same site, a lot of the same staff.  Looking for less expensive site.  Brewing competition needs both entrants and judges; see Richard.

Agincourt: not enough time to make it happen this year (600th anniversary), but would like to revive for next year.

Viceregal Succession: Today's the deadline, and there's still only one slate (Suuder & Lada).  Which makes things simple, but makes it harder to get the required 50% return rate: if we don't get a 50% or better return rate, the Poll results will be invalid--which would be BAD for the Crown Province.  Publicize.
An observation was made that USPS will correct all the addresses on a list for $10 (short-circuit forwardings, etc.); this takes 2-3 days, of the 10 days we have between receiving the list and sending out the mailing.

Cloisters Demo: nothing else to add.

Queens Farm Demo: Ian will talk to Amy.  Last year there were alpacas adjacent to the archery range, which is probably a bad idea.

Upcoming Meetings:
September, the day before QCFFD, at QCFFD [correction: at Sofya's place]
October 16: no volunteers to host yet.
November 20: Friday of Musicians' Day; considering moving date.  No decision for now.
December:  John & Rufina's place (party; business optional ^_^)

New Business:
Is there any Youth Combat going on in Ostgardr?
