![]() Ostgardr Commons Dec. 20, 2013 Transcribed by Stephen Bloch Dec. 2013 Ostgardr Commons People started arriving 6:30. Food. Meeting started 7:55. Herald: Nothing. Lions End: March 15 Date for event (incl. Provincial A&S Champs) fell through. Considering other dates. EK recognizes Bish as Seneschal. Webmaster: not much new. Final exams over. There's allegedly another would-be deputy, but I haven't heard anything directly. Will merge Bylaws changes to Web site. Exchecquer: Richard & various other officers meeting at bank in Whitestone tomorrow to finalize paperwork. Nordenfjord found more checks after their maiden event, so will need to revise event report. Whyt Whey: haven't received check from Fort Tryon fair yet. Have bought domain name. JE pointed out that Kingdom is trying to move local groups onto Kingdom server. Deputy Chatelaine: had small demo at Enigma Bookstore; some interest, we have permission to post info there, etc. Working out e-mail infrastructure for contacting newcomers. Norana Cantrell interested in deputy web position. Asked Canton chatelaines for inventory of Gold Key. (Lori says she has two bins of Ostgardr Gold Key stuff; will give to Maria at Season's Beatings) Chronicler: Officially interested in continuing in office. Archery: No longer happening in Staten Island, but apparently still going at Cedar Creek in Lions End. A&S: Lots of stuff going on. One more wood-working class, at Lions End Commons, Jan. 6. Brokenbridge: Had A&S in Brokenbridge at Motylewskis'. Next one will be 1/10, probably at Motylewskis'. Brokenbridge Twelfth Night 12/29 at Motylewskis' (see e-mail for time & details). Northpass: Tavern is proceeding. Considering table display at Lunacon, March 15-16. Considering "Riding of the Marches" sort of event, early May. Funeral Games of John Barleycorn (based on Aeneid, book 5). Viceroy: sharing space at MSR practice at Orthodox church near Wantagh train station. Planning armoring workshop with Master Cet, in exchange for a day of grunt work expanding his shop. "Autocratting workshop" at Motylewskis' house in February. Maria has Lilli's "Autocrat's Handbook". Seneschal: we have changes to Bylaws, approved at last Commons, but they were based on an out-of-date old version. Webmaster will merge those changes into the 2007 edition & post on Web; send out to all Canton Seneschals. If nobody objects by next Ostgardr Commons, we'll consider it approved. [Editor's note: After the meeting, this material was posted at http://ostgardr.org/docs. Please read and comment!] Upcoming Events Season's Beatings: Jan. 11 at Blue Mountain, but we're not 100% sure we have the site. Various people will talk to Wilhelm and/or Blue Mountain. Coill Tuar just rescheduled a feast to the same date (they apologize). [Editor's note: between the meeting and the publication of the E-Horse, the date of Season's Beatings was changed to Feb. 1, and yes we do have the site.] Pot luck. Maria has all sorts of marketing ideas. Richard will be running games. Thrown weapons, fencing, etc. Tavern March 1-2. Sean still working on proposal for Brew U; nothing formalized yet. Considering April or May. Riding of the Marches, May? Ostgardr/An Dubh Challenge: Suuder & Lada will autocrat. Still discussing dates; July had conflicts, so considering April. Stained glass: Jimi planning to run a series of classes, probably starting in March. New business: should have unified format for business cards for officers. Some discussion of whether to have individual phone numbers (so they need to be redone whenever an officer changes). Richard suggests checking with some local stationers; may be able to get better deal for a bunch of cards w/same format but different names. Some offices do business mostly by e-mail, while others will need phone numbers. Maria volunteers to look into prices. Upcoming meetings: January 17 at Kapajs' February 21 at Motylewskis' March 21: Maria will look into using Enigma Bookstore in Astoria; failing that, her house. Adjourned 9:10. Cookies! Chocolate fountain! ![]() Directions to January CommonsJanuary Commons will be Friday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Jacki and Luigj Kapaj, 4291 Napier St., Bronx, NY.
