Acting Knight Marshal:
McCarren Park practice is now closed for the winter, but
there will be armoring sessions and possibly some winter
tournaments up in Riverside Park as the Viceroy is
reviving the Beau Geste Tourneys.
A&S:
all reports were in for year's end. There was some
question on the Whyt Whey report, but it was corrected
post-meeting by Conandil, who forwarded the report to
Judith as sent to kingdom on December 7. A&S
will be stepping down in January and the deputy, Lada
Mongguligan, will step into the office.
Webminister:
the E-Horse is out and ongoing. Website changes will be
done over holiday break in regular life. Also, if a
provincial office is changing over there should be
notice sent to the webminister so that emails can be
changed and forwarded correctly. A possible new
deputy, Matthew Barr, was discussed.

doing housekeeping and looking forward to Bear's Tavern
as the next event. A new chatelaine, Magdelena
Carminante, has been chosen and is being warranted at
kingdom.

Ostgardr has money, and the check sent to SCA Inc. for
the lawsuit was voided because it was never used. The

the February event is on hold due to life issues in the
canton. The seneschal will step down and the new

End February Event: cancelled due to
budget and life issues.

will take place the first weekend in March, and there
are still spots for overnight open. The registrar
(Richard the Poor) can take registrations pronto.
Spring Demo Season will open with Viking Day, which
might be on May 18. This will be checked on by Johanna I
Visby. Riverfest will be discussed when the liaison is
available.
Year End Officers
Meeting: Thursday, December 20 at the
Basement of Jeff Berry and Lorree True (552 Riverside
Drive), starting around 6 pm. It will be held like a
curia, with the Viceregents and officers allowed to
speak, and populace in attendance allowed to speak if
recognized by the Viceregents. Candidates for the
changing officer positions are: Seneschal: Friderich
Grimme, Eilionora inghen ui Ruarc and Elaine
Betancourt's husband. Knight Marshal: Valgard
Stonecleaver. Chatelaine: Sirhan al-Cyani ibn Atai
akarel Diablu (Sir Diablu). A&S Lada Mongguligan.
Lions End will confirm Francesco Greco de Edessa (Bish)
as seneschal, Whyt Whey will confirm Phillip White as
exchequer and Eularia Trewe as seneschal.
Ostgardr-An
Dubhaigheann Border War: will be held at
the UU Huntington site. Challenges were given at the St.
Andrews An Dubh investiture event in November. Dates for
this war will be discussed. An Dubh is holding a winter
commons on Sunday, January 13 and a group from Ostgardr
should go and talk to them. Teams from the cantons
should decide what to bring to the table.
Crown: Valgard
is putting together a bid for East Kingdom Spring Crown
Tournament. He and the Viceroy went to look at the
Staten Island Camp Pouch Boy Scout Camp and put in a
hold for the weekend of April 27. The site IS somewhat
public transit accessible via the Staten Island ferry
and a bus. The site has good amenities: cabins,
lean-to's, bathrooms, large field for both camping and
fighting. Feast hall, though the kitchen is small and
there would have to be lots of pre-prep work done for a
feast. The site also has archery and thrown weapons
ranges. Being a Boy Scout camp it is a DRY site, no
exceptions. Personnel are being assembled for the bid.
Budget needs to be finalized by the Officers
Meeting. Bid needs to go to kingdom by January 1.
A note on the bid – our neighbor An Dubhaigheann is
putting together a bid for Spring Crown as well. This
was discussed and it was decided that Sir Gui as Viceroy
would speak to both the baronial seat and the seneschal
of An Dubh to work out and smooth out things.
If our bid is not accepted and the An Dubh bid is,
Ostgardr should go and offer help. If the Staten Island
site can still be used, perhaps Ostgardr can hold a
different event there.
Upcoming Commons
January will be at the Office of Congressman Eliot
Engel in the Bronx, with liaison Lori Copland hosting,

Countess
Brekke's house. We'll discuss an aspect of Medieval cooking,
prepare a Medieval meal, and eat it for dinner. Please let
Brekke know in advance
if you're interested: her kitchen is small.
This is a participation class, and a group effort.
Please note that in general, the house is messy, and that there are five cats
living indoors.
