Meetings

August Commons Minutes

Transcribed by Stephen Bloch

August 24, 2012

Officers

Lions End Helga is now a Thrown Weapons marshal.  We were approached by Bellmore COC for a fencing demo at Bellmore Street Fair, Sunday of Queens Farm (9/23).  Right at Bellmore LIRR station.  Could also use touchy-feely stuff for display.
Looking for place to do thrown-weapons.

Exchequer: quarterly report was filed before Pennsic.  Have closed the old bank account; operating through "SCA NY" bank accounts.  Need to add Seneschal and Vicereine as signers (will discuss after mtg).  Need budgets for all proposed events.  Kingdom is demanding check-req forms for all checks.

Chamberlain:  discussing w/Wilhelm stuff needed for Barleycorn.
Some stuff that belonged to Blue Mountain was mistakenly brought home after Tavern, but it's been returned now.  Will re-inventory after fall events.

Herald:  Two tubs of garb and stuff came home when BAT was closed.  Discussing ways to get rid of it.

Whyt Whey:
Ft Tryon 9/30; will include Provincial heavy-weapons championship.  Seeking replacement for Melanie as Seneschal (stepping down end of 2012).  Stitch & Sing continues First Thursdays; next one will emphasize Sprang.  There are 3 cats.

Historian: History continues.

Vicereine: Pennsic was fun.  Brokenbridge functioning.  Brunch w/Cadfael 1st weekend of Sept.  Worked Lost & Found at Pennsic.

Viceroy: Thinking of some fundraiser ideas, e.g. T-shirts.  John the Bear stepping down as Knight Marshal; Valgard will step in as interim, but looking for permanent replacement.  Officers' Meeting Sept. 28 at Motylewskis' house.

Webmaster: Panix has authorized MySQL for our gratis account, but I haven't done anything with it.

Chronicler: 5 new E-horse subscriptions in past two days.

Arts and Sciences: quarterly reports due 9/1; BB & WW are already in.  Will step down in November; Lada & Melanie both interested in replacing.

Upcoming Events & Demos:

Barleycorn:
feast starting to fill up, so preregister soon.  Lots of opportunities for volunteering.  Contact Wilhelm or Oliver.  No royalty coming.  ACCEPS has been a pain at times, although lots of other people have used it successfully.  Wouldn't recommend it for a small event.
We don't have access to the hall on Friday, because somebody else is renting the site; we're being allowed to set up Friday, but should keep numbers down; staff and hardship cases only on Friday.
Lots of activities planned, including masks.  Mask-making workshop scheduled for Bornanders' place Sept. 1 (?)  Staff will have identifiable baldrics, so they can be spotted easily.

Queens Farm: 9/22-23.  Lorree has made a flyer.  Ysenda won't be there; Jeff & Lorree won't be there; fencers may not be there on Sunday due to Bellmore demo.  Krevors will coordinate who's coming & when we're demoing what.

Fort Tryon: 9/30.  Michelle & Ysenda both have birthdays, so they're bringing birthday cakes.  Contact Melanie about parking (name, license plate, what you're bringing, how many people, etc.)

Fiber Frolic: 10/6, free admission but must preregister through Devra.  Raffle fundraiser.  If you want to teach something, contact Matt Pius.  1400 Cadman Plaza West.

Florentine event: TBA.  Still looking for cooks; if they exist, and site is successfully reserved, event will happen.  Salon, disputatio, whatever.

Musicians' Day: 11/16-18.  Some classes are lined up, and others under negotiation.  Bruce is chef; same cooking crew as usual.  Need gate person; Ysenda and WIlhelm would be willing.

Seasons' Beatings:  might be 12/8 (possibly at Friends Field house)

Bergental investiture 9/15
River Wars in Iron Bog
Coronation 10/13
