Officers reports:

A & S: quarterly A&S reports went in mostly on time, kingdom is okay with them.

Chatelaine: The recent Boy Scout Demo went well, according to people. Vivats! We have a new person in the Province, Ava, here from the Middle Kingdom (welcomes given by all).

Lions End: (report given by Deputy Seneschal Alexandros from written report by Lady Alysaundre, Lions End Seneschal) The Boy Scout Demo went well, we are in talks with the Boy Scouts to use the site for SCA event. Recent event Lions on the Silk Road made a profit, still working on report for kingdom. Possible demo at street fair in Bellmore.

Whyt Whey: (report given by Eularia) New Whyt Whey exchequer is Eularia, still getting all that exchequery paperwork done. Sing Thing/Stitch Thing continuing, Dance Practice is starting again soon.

Chamberlain: the Ostgardr feast gear and other stuff will have new shelving at her home. There are some odds and ends still at BAT per Sir Oscad, need to make sure we are not missing things.

Exchequer: We have money. Next quarterly reports are due April 30. Kingdom saw our last report and actually asked some weird questions (snickers from those present). Northpass has a new checkbook and all their banking stuff is in their hands. With regard to new accounts, all set up, old accounts are still open – just waiting for last items to clear. Kingdom has our donation for lawsuit, nothing else is happening there.

Historian:  the province has a new Bardic Champion – Lady Lilie Dubh (who waves hand at everyone).

Seneschal: (report given by Deputy Seneschal) Seneschal Lady Ysenda MacBeth is at Gulf Wars, am running this meeting with her permission.

Northpass: Tavern went well, planning for Barleycorn is in process (dates are 9/8-10/2012). There is going to be a demo this weekend at Lunacon at the Rye Hilton, but not a cohesive, planned one.

Brooklyn Army Terminal fighting and fencing, etc. site: is closing for good. All items left behind will either be tossed or put into Iron Key, Gold Key, loaner fencing gear, etc.  per Sir Oscad.

Events and Demos Upcoming:

Lunacon Demo (see Northpass), some discussion on this demo from all present.

Viking Day Demo is 5/19, Lord Tormundr is the point person.

Riverfest Demo is 6/24/2012. There are conflicts here with Eisental War Practice and Known World Heralds and Scribal.  We may not have some people who participated in this demo last year.

Barleycorn event is 9/8-10/2012. Same autocrats at last year (Wilhelm and Oliver).

Brokenbridge’s Fall Fiber Frolic will be in October, with Lady Lada as autocrat. She is looking at sites.

Fort Tryon Medieval Fair Demo is 9/30/2012. Earlier this year, and conflicts with EK Fall Coronation the day before.

Queens Farm Demo is not on the schedule yet on the Queens Farm Museum website. Possibly will be 9/22-23.

Musicians Day – possibly in November. Master John Elys and Mistress Rufina Cambrensis are working on this.

Discussion of Ongoing things in Ostgardr:

Arts and Sciences Gatherings are the 1st and 2nd Fridays of the month, former is in the Bronx, latter is in Brokenbridge. Next A&S in Brokenbridge on April 13 will have Countess Brekke talking about Viking culture in preparation for Viking Day Demo.  Dance practice next is on Monday, 3/19 in Yonkers. Wednesday evening dance practices will resume at Belevedere Castle in Central Park soon. Scribal practice is 3rd or 4th Sunday at Riverside Drive basement room. Fencing is 1st Friday in Lions End, Archery will be starting up soon on Staten Island, in Lions End and in Northpass (remember to wear ‘wellies’ for Northpass practice!). There may be some ad hoc fencing up on Riverside Drive if Master Alexandre gets bored. Brokenbridge’s next ‘Brunch with Cadfael will be on 3/22.  The “Al & Phil Show” – A & S Documentation Workshop is March 17 at Riverside Drive Basement, run by Master Alexandre D’Avigne and Master Phillip White (and if it goes well they may take it on the road and do the class again).

Next Ostgardr Commons Meetings:

April 20 on City Island at Friderich and Lilie Dubh’s.  May 18, TBD. June 15 at Portchester in Northpass. No commons in July, but August is traditionally at Master John Elys and Mistress Rufina’s in Queens.

Other Business:

Fundraising? (discussion tabled)

Calendars:  there are several different calendars in use, and none of them completely agree with the others. Discussion of how to possibly address this issue, no answers other than ‘more communication between people working on calendars’.

 New Business:

Mistress Katherine Gillesfleur wants to run a ‘demo workshop’, addressing how to run different types of demos, i.e., a demo for children is different than a demo for adults, and a recruiting demo is different than a community outreach demo. This was approved and a date will be set for this workshop.

Autocrat’s workshop was discussed by Lady Lilie Dubh, and some discussion ensued about mentoring autocrats and getting the autocrats handbook to people who want to run events in the province. Master Phillip White has a class on this too, some discussion about running a joint workshop. A separate workshop on Running a Successful Gate will also be forthcoming.

Pennsic 101 workshop run by Lady Jenna Childersley in Lions End will be set onto the calendar when she has a date that works.

Pennsic Campmaster will be Master Ian, per Sir Gui and Baroness Johanna, Viceregents. If you live in the province you will be allotted space if you choose to camp with Ostgardr. If you do not live in the province you will need to appeal to the viceregents for permission to camp in Ostgardr.

There will be an Ostgardr Deep Fry Night at Pennsic per Viceroy, Sir Gui.

The Viceroy texted Master Phillip White from Gulf Wars. Hello!

Short discussions of BoD proposal for new peerage exploratory committee and BoD’s proposal to put the Society Chatelaine in the rolls of the Society Officers as the “Recruitment and Retention Officer”.

Meeting ended with calls of “Ooh! Tarte!”
